How to Choose the Right Paper Bag Making Machine

After the plastic ban, paper bags are in huge demand from shops, bakeries, pharmacies, restaurants and brands. But before you start, the most important decision is choosing the right paper bag making machine for the bags you want to make. This guide walks you through it step by step.

1. Decide the type of bag you want to make

Paper bags fall into two broad groups, and your machine choice follows from this:

• Bakery & food bags — smaller V-bottom bags for sweets, snacks, bread and takeaway.
• Shopping & carry bags — larger V-bottom bags for garment shops, grocery, pharmacy and branded retail.

If you mainly want small food bags, a compact machine is enough. If you want larger shopping bags too, choose a machine with a wider size range.

2. Match the machine model to your bag size — RI-300 vs RI-400

Both models make finished V-bottom bags automatically — feeding, tube forming, bottom pasting, cutting and counting in one line — and multiple sizes are set using size plates and gears.

3. Choose your printing option

Printing lets you make branded bags, which sell at a higher price. Decide early:

• 2-colour printing — enough for a shop name and a simple logo. Available on both RI-300 and RI-400.
• 4-colour printing — for full-colour, premium branded bags. Available on the RI-400.

4. Check the production speed

Our paper bag machines produce up to 300 bags per minute, depending on the paper quality and bag size. For a new unit this is more than enough; the key is steady, reliable running rather than only top speed.

5. Confirm the paper it uses

The machines run on kraft or white paper, 50–150 GSM (16–30 BF). Lighter paper for small food bags, heavier paper for strong shopping bags. We can also supply the paper raw material, and we share production estimates for each bag size — for example, a 14×8×22 cm bag in 60 GSM gives about 126 bags per kg.

6. Look beyond the machine — service, training & support

A machine is only as good as the support behind it. Before you buy, confirm:

• A trial run at the factory with your own paper before dispatch
